It's great to have Alex & Todd back with lil RIA and walking with the Dog Group! They're already getting Ria very socialized by meeting so many friendly people & dogs. LUCKY a lil hummingbird was found laying lifeless in the middle of the street during our Group Dog Walk.

After a few hours of gentle, caring, and patience along with feeding droplets of sugar water from a red coffee stirrer. Lucky made a complete recovery! Following a few minutes of testing his flight wings while perched on makeshift twigs, Lucky zipped off up & away into the distant trees.

SEAMAN THE DOG
As Part Of the 250th Anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the City of St. Charles has placed 25, large "Seaman The Dog" statues on street corners throughout St. Charles City.  Historians believe that Lewis Merriweather purchased Seaman the dog for $20. while waiting for the Discovery expedition boats to be built.  The statues have been colorfully hand painted in front of various business locations.  How many have you seen?  Here's a map link for all of the 25 locations to the different Seaman statues MAP

STORMI, Is a 2 yr old, Female, Black Labrador Retriever nicknamed, "Baby Girl, or Princess" She belongs to Mary and Paul, and was purchased as a puppy from Falling Timber Farms in Marthasville, Missouri.  Stormi, Also, lives with 2 cats and can often be found nestled up together.  Socially, she loves to greet people and especially other dogs.  Her very keen sense of smell is excellent for tracking other animals.  She loves to watch rabbits and squirrels.   Oddly, Stormi has duck-like webbed, long-fingered paws, but will not go into a swimming pool or go down the basement stairs.  At home, she nudges jingle bells hanging on a door knob to signal that she wants to go outside.  Her only bad habit, is that she barks alot.  But, playfully sits up on her two hind legs for attention.  She will gladly SIT and raise her paw for a treat.  Stormi loves to play fetch, go to the park, go for walks, meet other dogs and people, chew on her toys, or stop to watch other dogs on TV.
One word to describe Stormi would be SPOILED.

JAKE, a 7 year old Vizsla is nicknamed JAKIE POO.  He was purchased from a Breeder by Pat and John.  Jake is a speedy fast runner, (a Vizsla can run up to 40mph) but he will also standstill on-point, like an arrow, aimed directly at unsuspecting wildlife.
Vizsla's are Hungarian Sporting Dogs that were almost extinct following WWI.  The First Vizsla arrived in America around 1950.  They are easily recognized by their sleek, robust golden coat, long ears, brown nose, and versatility in the field or at home.  Jake loves to be covered up to sleep under a blanket and enjoys playing in a Dog Park, walking trails, or running through an open field.  He is very good around people and other dogs.  Jake can Heel learned from completing Obedience Training.  Smartly, he rings a bell whenever he needs to go outside.  He has a quirky habit of drooling water.  Pat's one word to describe Jake would be, VELCRO, he sticks to her!

JAKE and STORMI are next door neighbors.

LEO, nicknamed Mr. Snuggles, is an awesome, 7 year old, male, Pomeranian/Pekinese.  Steve found this cute lil fella at Adopt-A-Pet.  Leo will pace back and forth, or sit on his butt at the door to signal that he needs to go outside.  Then he performs one of his funny little tricks by standing on his front legs, while he lifts up both back legs to pee. Leo's favorites are a squeaky bird, a toy spider, pig ear treats, and going for walks.  Leo loves riding in his new stroller!  Leo is  licensed to be Awesome.  Steve proudly says, "The best thing that he ever did was to adopt, LEO!"
Steve describes Leo in a word as, Loveable

BUB, nicknamed Bubby Bobba, is a 3 year old vivacious little male, with a lil attitude mix of Miniature Schnauzer, Chihuahua, Lhasa Apso, And Shih Tzu.  Barb adopted Bub originally from the Humane Society of Missouri in Joplin, Mo.  Bub boldly lives with 6 other dogs, Yes 6, but he is scared of storm drains.  His favorite toys are a crinkly chicken and a knot bear.  Bub will sit by the door to go outside, but has been known to leave a surprise or two in the house.  Bub's fun trick is to walk on his two hind legs.

Dogs, just like humans, require daily exercise in order to remain happy, healthy, and free from boredom.
Important benefits of regular activity include improved blood flow circulation, disease prevention, reduced risk of obesity, socialization, bonding, energy burn off and overall improved social behaviors. According to a 2018, study led by Purdue University, about 40% of Americans walk their dogs regularly. For these 40%, and the remaining 60% who do not make it outside for a daily walk, finding a group to walk with can help break up routines or provide necessary motivation.

Dog groups walking together allows the dog to be rewarded and accepted to a social pack as an equal member, structuring a mindset of relaxed calmness and confidence.

The benefits of joining a walking group are numerous. Although some pet parents crave flexibility in their day and prefer to walk when the timing is right, being part of a dog walking group can eliminate the possibility of putting off a walk indefinitely. Having a set schedule provides accountability to help motivate dog owners to show up at the agreed upon time and specific location.

Dogs and humans also receive important opportunities to socialize and build fun and friendly networks when walking in a group. Dogs are able to experience new sights, smells, noises, dog pack mindsets, human interactions, and experiences, which is crucial for developing a dog’s ability to handle new and exciting situations with minimal stress.

For dog owners, walking with like-minded, dog loving people can help build social networks, friendly relationships, exchange training tips, shared knowledge and neighborhood news. Friendships, walking dates, play dates, and any number of social opportunities can arise just from meeting other owners and their dogs, that your pup is particularly fond of walking with.
